Senegalese Abroad Weekend: Pape Matar Sparkles, Sadio Mané Decisive, Krépin Diatta Absent Again

Week-end des Sénégalais de l’étranger : Pape Matar étincelant, Sadio Mané décisif, Krépin Diatta encore absent

Five days after Senegal's stunning 2-3 victory in the Democratic Republic of Congo, Senegalese footballers returned to competitive action this weekend with their respective clubs. While Pape Matar Sarr continued his excellent form, Krépin Diatta and Antoine Mendy remained on the bench. In Germany, Nicolas Jackson played his first minutes for Bayern Munich, and in Saudi Arabia, Sadio Mané rediscovered his goal-scoring skills.

In France

Monaco's Lamine Camara and Krépin Diatta beat Auxerre 2-1. Coming on in the 78th minute, Lamine Camara contributed to the victory, while Krépin Diatta was not on the team sheet.

At home, Nice, with Yehvann Diouf (starter) and Antoine Mendy (remaining on the bench), beat Nantes (1-0). Away to Marseille, Lorient and its Senegalese colony – Sambou Soumano and Abdoulaye Faye (starters), Bingourou Kamara and Bamba Dieng (substitutes) – suffered a heavy defeat (4-0).

At the Parc des Princes, Abdallah Sima (who came on in the 46th minute) and Lens lost to PSG (2-0). Moustapha Mbow's Paris FC (starter) snatched a valuable victory away to Brest (2-1).

At the Meinau, Strasbourg under Mamadou Sarr (captain) won (1-0) against Le Havre, where Mory Diaw, Arouna Sanganté, Rassoul Ndiaye and Issa Soumaré were all starters.

In Metz, Habib Diallo returned to the starting lineup after missing a crucial penalty in the 1-1 draw against Angers SCO. Coming on in the 73rd minute, Cheikh Tidiane Sabaly also failed to make a difference. Moussa Niakhaté, who missed the match against DR Congo, held his place for Lyon, who were beaten at home by Rennes (1-3).

In England

Pape Matar Sarr continues his dream week. After scoring against DR Congo, the midfielder opened the scoring with a superb header in Tottenham's 3-0 win over El Hadji Malick Diouf's West Ham.

At Hill Dickinson Stadium, Everton, with Iliman Ndiaye and Idrissa Gana Guèye starting, were held to a 0-0 draw by Aston Villa. In another all-Senegalese encounter, Habib Diarra and Sunderland held Ismaïla Sarr's Crystal Palace to a 0-0 draw. The Lions striker did not play in the match due to injury.

In Spain

On Matchday 4, Villeréal and Pape Alassane Gueye lost 2-0 to Atlético Madrid. Coming on in the 64th minute, the Senegalese midfielder was powerless to reverse the tide. Pathé Ciss, a starter for Rayo Vallecano, also suffered a 2-0 defeat at Osasuna.

In Italy

For the 3rd day of Serie A, Parma of Abdoulaye Niakhaté Ndiaye (starter) lost to Cagliari (2-0).

Udinese's new striker, Idrissa Gueye, was absent from the 1-0 defeat against Pisa. Boulaye Dia, who came on in the 60th minute, was unable to prevent Lazio from losing to Sassuolo (1-0). This Monday, Cheikh Tidiane Niasse's Hellas Verona hosts Mikayil Ngor Faye's Cremonese. Assane Diao and Côme, both back from injury, face Genoa.

In Germany

Nicolas Jackson's Bayern Munich outclassed Hamburg (5-0). The Senegalese striker, who came on in the 46th minute, played his first minutes with the Bavarian club.

In Belgium

New international Ousseynou Niang started in Union Saint-Gilloise's 1-0 victory at Dender. Anderlecht, with Moussa Ndiaye (who came on in the 34th minute) but without Ilay Camara, were held to a 1-1 draw by Genk.

In Türkiye

On Matchday 5, Ismail Jakobs (who came on in the 86th minute) played in Galatasaray's 2-0 win over Eyupspor. Recently transferred to Samsunspor, Cherif Ndiaye did not play in his team's 2-1 defeat to Antalyaspor.

In Saudi Arabia

On Matchday 2, Al Ahly captain Edouard Mendy brought home a point from their trip to Al Ettifaq (0-0). Kalidou Koulibaly, a starter for Al Hilal, was held to a 2-2 draw by Al Qadziah FC. Sadio Mané, who scored in the 52nd minute, was decisive in Al Nassr's 2-0 victory over Al Kholood.
