The final of the World Jumping Challenge (WJC) took place on Sunday, November 30, 2025 at the National Gendarmerie Equestrian Centre in Diamniadio, Seneweb learned from Colonel Ibrahima Ndiaye.

This event of international significance marks an important step in the preparation for the Dakar 2026 Youth Olympic Games.

A ceremony marked by high representation

The competition was held in the presence of prominent figures.

Lieutenant General (Ret.) Birame Diop, Minister of the Armed Forces, graced the event with his presence, alongside Major General Martin Faye, High Commander of the National Gendarmerie and Director of Military Justice, and Brigadier General Jean Bertrand Bocandé, Commander of the Mobile Gendarmerie. Numerous administrative, parliamentary, civilian, and military authorities also attended the final.

A major international competition, organized under the auspices of the International Equestrian Federation (FEI), brought together around twenty riders from various countries. The event is fully aligned with the preparations for the Dakar 2026 Youth Olympic Games.

A strategic certification issue

Beyond the sporting aspect, this World Jumping Challenge represents a crucial step in the process of accrediting the equestrian career of the National Gendarmerie. This accreditation is essential for hosting international equestrian competitions in Senegal.

The Dominican Republic dominates, Senegal on the podium

After a hard-fought competition, the Dominican Republic distinguished itself by securing first and second place on the podium. Senegal completed the podium respectably, finishing in third place.

To conclude the day in style, the Mounted Cavalry Group treated the public to an impressive lance-carousel demonstration. This performance was met with enthusiastic applause from the audience. This highlight showcased the technical skill, discipline, and expertise of the National Gendarmerie's riders, demonstrating the high level of training and equestrian prowess within the institution.
