Bamba Cissé : “Les violences dans la lutte ne resteront plus impunies”
The Minister of the Interior and Public Security, Mr. Bamba Cissé, reaffirmed his firm determination to put an end to the phenomenon of "simol", these group attacks and robberies which occur on the sidelines of wrestling matches and face-offs between wrestlers.
According to the minister, these recurring incidents constitute a serious threat to the safety of spectators and severely damage the image of wrestling arenas in Senegal, an emblematic discipline of the national culture.
Speaking at a conference held this Tuesday at the Senegal Defense Institute (IDS), Mr. Bamba Cissé stressed the need for a rapid and rigorous response from the authorities.
"It is unacceptable that citizens are attacked after the fighting. The perpetrators of these acts of violence must be identified and punished without delay," he insisted.
With this in mind, the minister instructed the governor of Dakar to convene all stakeholders in the world of wrestling — promoters, wrestlers, managers, fan clubs and traditional communicators — in order to define concrete measures for the prevention and security of the arenas.
Furthermore, Mr. Bamba Cissé announced the opening of a thorough investigation into the recent incidents, while assuring the reinforced mobilization of defense and security forces to protect spectators during major wrestling events.
"The safety of citizens takes precedence over all other considerations. We cannot allow simol to develop," he said.
Finally, the Minister of the Interior mentioned the upcoming implementation of a mechanism to hold wrestling stakeholders and the public accountable, with the aim of preventing excesses and ensuring safe, accessible and peaceful wrestling arenas for all.

je pense qui'il ya plus grave aussi : les enfants de 10 voir 15 qui se rendent au stade sasns mm avoir l prix du billet nont pas leur place devant les stades. et ce sont eux à la fin comm avt le combat qui accompagnent les foules rendant impossible souvent l'isolement des agressions . mm le ministre de la protection des enfants doit etre saisi car il y a énormément de risque, ils vont apprendre à voler ou participer au vol car ils prennent ca pr un jeu , peuvent etre blessés, etc... alors quils entrent pratiquement pas stade. de plus mm les gens qui se tiennent devant le stade sans motifs doivent etre degagés car ils rendent difficiles la sécurisation.
