On the night of Tuesday, October 14 to Wednesday, October 15, 2025, the police force of the Dakar Central Police Station conducted an operation to combat urban crime. From 9 p.m. to 6 a.m., no fewer than 204 people were arrested.

Under the command of Divisional Commissioner Mamadou Tendeng, head of Regional Public Security, this large-scale operation mobilized all available forces in the capital.

Police officers combed the entire city to track down offenders. Of the 204 people arrested, 131 were stopped for identity checks. Thirty others were arrested for public drunkenness, disturbing the peace and order of the neighborhoods.

Three individuals were arrested for vagrancy and three others for soliciting on the public highway. Four people involved in a brawl were also taken to the police station.

Drug control was a major focus of this operation. The results were significant. Two people were arrested in possession of four cones of Indian hemp intended for consumption. Three other suspects were arrested while consuming hemp in a group. The police seized two joints and a bottle containing loose Indian hemp.

The operation also dismantled a small ecstasy network. Two people were arrested for possession of this hard drug, while a dealer was caught red-handed selling it. A total of one gram of ecstasy was seized.

Police teams also cracked down hard on thieves who are prowling the capital. Five people were caught red-handed stealing. Two others were arrested for nighttime robberies, taking advantage of the darkness to carry out their acts.

Law enforcement arrested three individuals suspected of belonging to organized gangs. One suspect was arrested for criminal conspiracy and gang robbery committed at night. Two other people were arrested on the same charges, with the exception of using a vehicle to commit their crimes. A burglar was arrested for burglary.

Violence and Assault

The operation resulted in the arrest of several individuals involved in violent incidents. Two individuals were arrested for assaulting their parents. One suspect was arrested for violence, assault, and public insults. Another was taken into custody for destruction of property belonging to others and possession of a cellulose product.

One person was arrested for breach of trust. Eight other suspects were arrested for the purpose of investigation, as their cases require further investigation.

A Reinforced Road System

In addition to fighting crime, police officers also controlled traffic. This operation resulted in the seizure of 282 items, including driving licenses and registration documents, for various traffic violations. Four illegal vehicles were impounded.
