Technologie, intelligence artificielle : Les nouveaux défis du leadership féminin!
In a context of accelerated digital transformation, the Grand Conference of Women Leaders brought together experts and participants around the theme "Women, Leadership and Technology: Leading in a Changing World," with a particular focus on "Artificial Intelligence for Development in Africa." The event was marked by rich and engaging discussions aimed at promoting the role of women in science and new technologies.
Suzanne Khalisse Sagne, coordinator of "STEM for Her," initiated the event and emphasized the importance of raising awareness and supporting young women in pursuing scientific fields. "One of our goals is to encourage young women to choose STEM fields—science, technology, engineering, and mathematics—and also to provide them with role models for success," she explained. Through the presence of inspiring female leaders, the event aims to demonstrate that these careers are accessible to all.
The coordinator also highlighted the numerous challenges women continue to face, including persistent stereotypes that hinder their access to scientific careers and decision-making positions. "Young girls are still being led to believe that these fields are not for them, or that they are incompatible with their family responsibilities," she lamented, noting the underrepresentation of women in leadership positions.
Panelist Fatou Sow Kane, for her part, emphasized the strategic role of artificial intelligence in the continent's development. "There are no barriers, all that's needed is the will," she stated. She thus called for Africans to actively embrace these technologies. According to her, Africa must not simply be a passive recipient of innovation, but rather become a major player in its development.
She also encouraged young people to engage in innovation by producing content that reflects African cultural and social realities. "We have a role to play: to embrace artificial intelligence and adapt it to our needs. We must not be passive recipients of AI; we must champion it," she concluded.
