Senegal, engaged in a profound transformation of its urban mobility with the Regional Express Train (TER) and the Bus Rapid Transit (BRT), finds itself at a pivotal moment to rethink the role of its train stations within the city. Long considered mere transit points, these infrastructures now have the potential to become true hubs of activity, capable of linking mobility, the local economy, and urban identity.
The transformation is not limited to the construction of modern transport lines. It calls for a complete rethinking of the urban space around train stations, transforming them into places where housing, shops, cultural spaces, public services, and innovation converge. Such an approach would revitalize urban proximity and strengthen social cohesion by creating vibrant hubs within the very heart of outlying neighborhoods.
Drawing inspiration from the international Transport Oriented Development (TOD) model, Dakar could transform its train stations into catalysts for sustainable development, where each site reflects the history, culture, and specific needs of its surroundings. This spatial and social integration would not only enhance mobility but also boost the capital's productivity and attractiveness.
Such an ambition, however, requires close coordination between public actors, local authorities, and private investors. It also necessitates urban planning that takes into account local uses, sustainable transportation, and the quality of life of residents. If this vision succeeds in becoming embedded in public policy, Dakar's train stations could become symbols of a local, inclusive, and forward-looking urbanism.

C'est honteux une vraie folie ce pays. Même le rond-point était occupée devant un policier en sueur tentant de regular ce qui restait de circulation, pour les voitures pare chocs à pare chocs sur des kilomètres, on est loin du développement je vous jure un tel degrés d'anarchie est exceptionnel....
