Louga : les chauffeurs et transporteurs annoncent une grève de trois jours à partir de ce mardi
The transport sector will be paralyzed starting tomorrow, Tuesday, throughout the Louga region. Drivers and transporters have announced a three-day general strike to protest a series of measures taken by state authorities.
Points of contention include the requirement to carry out technical inspections of minibuses now in Dakar, the removal of luggage racks, the continued ban on nighttime driving, and the reduction in the number of passengers from 19 to 12 seats.
The strikers issued a stern warning to the drivers of the "War Gaïndé" bus service, urging them to respect the strike order or risk reprisals against their vehicles. At the same time, they called on the authorities to engage in constructive dialogue to find a swift solution to their demands.
To ensure the effectiveness of the movement, vigilance committees will be set up in all bus stations in the region, said Talla Diaw and Modou Guèye, respectively presidents of the bus stations of Dahra and Linguère.
