Transport : les « Cheikhou Chérifou » soumis à un contrôle technique obligatoire dès le 3 mars
The Minister of Land and Air Transport, Yankhoba Diémé, announced a strict measure during a visit to the Hann vehicle inspection center this Monday. Starting March 3rd, public transport vehicles commonly known as "Cheikhou Chérifou" will be required to undergo a thorough technical inspection.
This special operation will last two months. During this "transitional period," minibuses will be allowed to circulate, but the minister was clear: "Once this period is over, vehicles that have not undergone the inspection will be impounded." Although these vehicles are already subject to a semi-annual technical inspection, this specific summons aims to curb road accidents, often linked to speeding and mechanical failures.
The inspection will focus on critical security points. According to Yankhoba Diémé, this will include verifying "the conformity of the number of seats, but also checking the conformity of luggage and luggage racks."
The authorities are highlighting dangerous practices: "Some have added extra seats, creating overcrowding." The minister emphasized the obligation to strictly adhere to current regulations to guarantee passenger safety. Owners of "Cheikhou Chérifou" buses are now urged to comply with this measure to avoid severe penalties after the May deadline.
