Grève des transporteurs : Sédhiou se réveille en mode « ville morte », le calvaire des usagers
The Sédhiou bus station is at a complete standstill. No departures or arrivals were recorded this Monday morning, following the 72-hour strike called by transport and trucking unions in Senegal.
This situation has paralyzed travel throughout the region. Many passengers, who had come to reach other towns, are stranded at the station with no alternative. Visibly disoriented, they are searching in vain for transportation to continue their journeys. Some have spent hours waiting for trains to resume, but to no avail: not a single vehicle is to be seen within the station.
Faced with this blockade, only Jakarta motorcycle taxi drivers are offering their services. However, many passengers consider their fares exorbitant for long distances. According to Moustapha Ndiaye, one of the bus station managers, this situation is expected to continue for the next 72 hours, in accordance with the national directive.
