At the National Debt Recovery Company (SNR), nearly 80% of workers' demands have received "concrete responses thanks to ongoing and constructive dialogue." This was revealed by Moussa Ndiaye, Special Advisor to the Director General of the SNR, on the sidelines of the Labor Day celebrations on Friday, May 1, 2026.

“The introduction of a new insurer,” “the provision of a third ticket to Mecca,” “improved career management,” “the payment of performance bonuses,” and “enhanced security and hygiene in the premises” are among the achievements welcomed by staff representatives. They acknowledge the efforts made by senior management, while noting that some concerns remain unresolved.

“I wouldn’t say we’re 100% satisfied, but many of our grievances have been addressed,” said Adama Diouf, a member of the SNR delegates’ council. The workers’ representatives also announced a revision of the list of grievances to include new demands for 2026. “There are still grievances to be addressed, and new ones will be added to the list of demands,” he explained.

The delegates' council also emphasized the need to maintain a work environment based on discipline and mutual respect. According to Cheikh Oumar Thiam, "respect for hierarchy is essential for the proper functioning of any serious organization," as it "guarantees order, clarity in responsibilities, speed in the execution of tasks, and collective discipline." However, he reiterated that this respect "must be reciprocal," calling on management to "listen to employees' concerns, value their efforts, treat everyone fairly, and lead by example." "When management respects workers and workers respect management, then the company progresses in a calm and peaceful environment," he asserted.

This Labor Day celebration also provided an opportunity for the SNR's management to "recognize the collective efforts that drive our results and strengthen the credibility of our institution," stated the Director General's representative, Moussa Ndiaye. Indeed, the SNR now boasts over 83 billion CFA francs recovered since its creation in 1991. According to management, "more than 4 billion CFA francs have been recovered in two years" and "nearly 4 billion have also been paid into the Public Treasury."

The company thus highlights "a notable improvement in the recovery rate", "a reduction in case processing times" as well as "concrete progress in the digitalization of procedures", with a focus on "paperless".

Held under the theme "Social Stability and Collective Commitment: Building a Sustainable Future Together," this celebration also provided an opportunity for staff representatives to advocate for social stability, deemed essential to maintaining this momentum. "The future of SNR does not rest solely on senior management, but on the commitment of everyone," stated Cheikh Oumar Thiam, calling for "ongoing dialogue, equitable social justice, and genuine collective commitment."

Furthermore, the workers also highlighted "the daily work" and "the considerable number of hours that the employees put in." These efforts, they said, "have enabled the SNR to achieve its very respectable results."

Inacceptable
