8 mars à Dakar Dem Dikk : Le DG Assane Mbengue érige les femmes en « alpha et oméga » de la modernisation
As part of the celebration of International Women's Day, the Dakar Dem Dikk Women's Association organized a symposium at the company's headquarters on Saturday, March 7, 2026. The meeting, held in the presence of Managing Director Assane Mbengue, focused on the theme: "Women's Engagement in the Workplace," in line with this year's international theme: "Rights, Justice and Action for Women and Girls."
This activity brought together several panelists, including teacher-researchers and speakers from the academic and professional world, such as Dr. Lamane Mbaye, teacher-researcher at Amadou Mahtar Mbow University in Dakar.
A framework for reflection and sharing
Through this symposium, the Dakar Dem Dikk Women's Association wanted to create a space for dialogue and reflection on the role of women in the professional environment, as well as on the actions to be taken to strengthen their rights and their participation in decision-making spheres.
The various speakers addressed several issues related to equal opportunities, working conditions and female leadership, while highlighting the progress made and the challenges that remain.
The commitment of women was praised by the general management
Speaking at the ceremony, Managing Director Assane Mbengue praised the commitment and contribution of women to the operation and development of Dakar Dem Dikk. He also recalled the historical example of the women of Nder, a symbol of courage and dignity in Senegal's history, emphasizing that this legacy continues to inspire women in their daily work.
According to him, women occupy an essential place in the ongoing transformation within the company. "You, women, will be the alpha and omega of this profound transformation of Dakar Dem Dikk," he declared, emphasizing their crucial role in the modernization of public transport in Senegal.
Recognition for the women of the company
The ceremony also included a tribute to Aminata Faye, the operations director, chosen as a role model for this year's event. According to Marème Mbodj, president of the Dakar Dem Dikk Women's Association, this choice aimed to highlight the career of a leading woman who has made her mark in a strategic sector of the company. She also commended the commitment of all the women in the company, whether they are drivers, conductors, administrative staff, technicians, or security officers.
Prospects for the future
Beyond the celebration, the meeting provided an opportunity to review the initiatives undertaken throughout the year to support women, particularly those aimed at improving working conditions and the professional environment. Through this symposium, Dakar Dem Dikk reaffirmed its commitment to promoting equality and empowering women in the workplace, while also contributing to the national and international movement for the rights of women and girls.
