« Mois béni pour tous » : La Fondation du Port autonome de Dakar remet un important don à l’Archidiocèse de Dakar

As it does every year, the Autonomous Port of Dakar (PAD) is keeping with tradition. As part of its "Blessed Month for All" initiative, it has organized donation days for the PAD Foundation to support both the Archdiocese of Dakar and the dockworkers of the Port of Dakar. In line with the PAD's Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) policy, the Director General of the Port of Dakar, Mr. Waly Diouf Bodiang, who also serves as Chairman of the Board of the PAD Foundation, visited the Archdiocese of Dakar on Tuesday, March 3, 2026, to present a significant donation to the Archbishop of Dakar, Monsignor André Guèye. He was accompanied, notably, by Ms. Diouma Tirera Maréga, General Administrator of the PAD Foundation.

A donation worth 8 million FCFA was given to the Archbishop of Dakar.

Here, the Dakar Autonomous Port Foundation presented a donation totaling 8 million CFA francs, including 4 million in food supplies, 2 million to accompany these supplies, and 2 million for health posts under the jurisdiction of the Archdiocese of Dakar. This social support aims to bolster the Senegalese Church during this holy season of Lent, as part of this Archdiocese Day.

According to the Chairman of the Board of the Port Authority of Dakar (PAD) Foundation, this donation is the culmination of a national tour of all the dioceses in Senegal, as part of a support program initiated by the PAD Foundation. "We are participating in the 'Blessed Month for Everyone,' encompassing all faiths. Today we are with this diocese, and tomorrow we will certainly be with another religious institution. It is a pleasure for us to offer the support of the Port Authority of Dakar Foundation, which is resolutely committed to supporting religious families," emphasized Mr. Waly Diouf Bodiang, after presenting the donation to the Archbishop of Dakar.

"The essential role of businesses is the social aspect."

Monsignor André Guèye, Archbishop of Dakar, for his part, welcomed this gesture of great social significance and said he had measured the meaning of the approach of the Director General of the Port of Dakar.

For him, the essential role of businesses is the social aspect. "Profit must be coupled with giving. Otherwise, the company becomes inhumane. It must be at the service of humanity. And it is since then that the notion of CSR has really been highlighted to explain this social dimension inherent in the company so that it can pursue its human and humanizing vocation," recalled Monsignor André Guèye.

In this regard, the Archbishop of Dakar stated that the Senegalese Church "fully shares this vision of the company, which aligns with the Church's social teachings." He then expressed his delight at seeing the Port of Dakar moving in this direction.

The religious leader took the opportunity to congratulate Mr. Waly Diouf Bodiang on the remarkable achievements under his leadership, while encouraging him to continue his efforts in this direction. "If the port is functioning well, then the economy will thrive," he asserted.

Following the Archdiocese of Dakar, the Autonomous Port of Dakar Foundation also plans to give donations to the dockworkers of the Port of Dakar.

It is worth recalling that the Dakar Autonomous Port Foundation's mission is to contribute to improving the living conditions of vulnerable Senegalese populations in the areas of health, education, the environment, training and integration, culture, and sport. Its objective is to ensure 100% compliance with applicable requirements, in line with evolving national and international regulations and case law; to adopt sustainable development principles at a rate of 80% through social and solidarity-based actions to guarantee synergy between the Foundation and its stakeholders; and to develop strategic partnerships and agreements to secure funding for at least 50% of its projects from donors.
