Sommet Africa Forward : Quand Diomaye Faye joue au foot avec ses homologues
On the sidelines of the Africa Forward Summit held in Nairobi, Kenya, on May 11 and 12, Senegalese President Bassirou Diomaye Faye provided an unexpected spectacle. Yesterday, in an impromptu match between heads of state, the Senegalese president showcased his football skills alongside Emmanuel Macron, William Ruto, and others.
Under the watchful eye of Claude Leroy, a legendary figure in African football, the heads of state exchanged a few passes, smiles, friendly gestures, and tentative dribbles. Far removed from the usual formal speeches, the image left a lasting impression.
The event was part of the Africa-France Business Forum, which has been bringing together leaders, investors and economic players since yesterday, Monday, and will continue until May 12, to discuss the challenges of cooperation and shared growth.
This sporting interlude was far from insignificant. It echoed the "Sport and Development" panel organized on the same day. Present around the table were the president of the Confederation of African Football, Patrice Motsepe, and several prominent figures from the world of sport.
