CAN 2025/Khalilou Fadiga Sur le match Sénégal-Mali: «On sait que ce sera un match fratricide»
Khalidou Fadiga has given his analysis of the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations quarter-final between Senegal and Mali. The former Senegalese international expects an intense confrontation between two teams that know each other very well.
Fadiga recalled the initial objectives set by the group. "The first objective was to qualify for the round of 16, then to finish top of our group to stay on the basis we are used to," he explained.
But for the former playmaker, the hardest part is yet to come. "Now, against Mali, it won't be easy. We have to do everything we can to give ourselves the best chance," he insisted.
While expressing deep respect for Mali, Khalilou Fadiga acknowledges Senegal's status. "We know the quality of this Malian team, we have a lot of respect for our opponents. But we are committed and determined favorites. On this basis, we will try to overcome this new hurdle," he stated.
"The players on a team don't all approach every match in the same way, but the ultimate goal remains victory. We know it will be a fratricidal match," he says.
Fadiga is convinced that the coach will be able to find the solutions to allow the Lions to take "the next step".
