Clôture de l'atelier d'évaluation de la Semaine de la Femme 2025 : Maïmouna Dièye fait de l'autonomisation une priorité nationale

The Minister of Family, Social Action and Solidarity, Maïmouna Dièye, presided this Saturday, January 24, at the Noom Hotel, over the closing ceremony of the workshop to evaluate and validate the results of the National Women's Week 2025 and the 69th session of the Commission on the Status of Women (CSW69).

This meeting, which brought together ministry officials, civil society organizations and members of the Senegalese delegation to CSW69, made it possible to review the actions carried out and to draw the necessary lessons for future editions.

A positive outcome marked by unprecedented mobilization

In her address, Maïmouna Dièye praised the quality of the contributions made during the workshop, which she described as "moments of intense reflection." According to the minister, the 2025 edition of Women's Week was marked by unprecedented mobilization. She particularly highlighted a significant increase in awareness of land rights and massive participation in women's economic empowerment programs across the country.

However, despite these successes, the minister noted that significant challenges remain. Among the priorities to be addressed are access to digital technologies for women entrepreneurs, combating gender-based violence, and improving credit mechanisms to better meet women's actual needs.

Looking towards CSW70 in New York

Ms. Dièye indicated that the upcoming session (CSW70) in New York will be a crucial platform for amplifying the voices of African women. The objective will be to accelerate gender equality in the face of new climate and economic challenges, while advocating for sustainable funding for local women's organizations and the harmonization of national laws with international standards.

In conclusion, the Minister instructed her technical staff to immediately incorporate the recommendations of this workshop into the national position paper. She officially launched preparations for CSW70 today to ensure an even more impactful Senegalese participation.
