Congo : le Président Sassou Nguesso reçoit Sokhna Aïda Diallo en audience
Spiritual leader Sokhna Aïda Diallo Thioune, a central figure of the Thiantacounes, was received in audience on Saturday, December 6, 2025, by President Denis Sassou Nguesso. This meeting took place on the sidelines of the 30th session of the Carrefour Fridays, in which she participated as a guest of honor, in Brazzaville. Held under the patronage of the Congolese Minister of Hydrocarbons, the meeting, which took place on December 4 and 5, 2025, focused on the theme: "Local potential and the domestic market: what to do, how to do it, with whom to do it, alone or together."
A major pan-African event, the Carrefour Fridays aim to be a platform for strategic reflection and open dialogue on the issues shaping the continent's future. At the opening ceremony, Sokhna Aïda Diallo delivered an important message:
At the end of the two days of discussions, the widow of Cheikh Béthio Thioune, accompanied by a large delegation, was received by the Congolese Head of State. According to her communications team, "during this meeting, Mrs. Sokhna Aïda Diallo Thioune, on behalf of Mr. Bruno Jean Richard Itoua, honorary president of the Carrefour Think Tank, presented the Head of State with the main conclusions of the 30th session and confirmed her appointment as patron of the 31st session, scheduled for December 3 and 4, 2026."
This next edition will focus on the theme: "Africa: climate change, energy transition and development", a subject "particularly dear to the President of the Republic", the same source specifies.
