Responsabilité Sociétale : L'Amicale des femmes de la LONASE apporte une "bouffée d'oxygène" aux vulnérables de Thiès

The LONASE Women's Association (AFLO) has reached a new milestone in its social commitment. This Thursday, February 12, 2026, at the LONASE headquarters, the women of the institution organized the third edition of their solidarity day, marked by a significant donation to Koranic schools (daaras) and orphanages in the Thiès region. This high-impact social initiative is based on the principles of sharing and decentralization.

Heading towards Thiès, the flagship region of 2026

After supporting the Rufisque prison two years ago, and then orphanages in Dakar last year, AFLO has decided to extend its efforts to the regions. The association's president, Ms. Seynabou Cissé, explained, "We were carrying out our work here in Dakar. Now, we are going to decentralize our activities." The choice of Thiès is due to the fact that the region will host the Independence Day celebrations this year. Three facilities will benefit from this support: a Koranic school (daara) in Tivaouane, an orphanage in Nianing (Malicounda commune), and an orphanage in Thiès.

In-kind donations estimated at 5 million FCFA

The donations, consisting of essential items such as milk, sugar, oil, shoes, infant cereal, mats, and detergents, are estimated at approximately 5 million FCFA. These purchases were made possible through internal fundraising and a grant from the General Directorate amounting to 10 million FCFA for the year, the remainder of which will finance other future projects. According to Ms. Cissé, "this initiative aims to improve the living conditions of the most vulnerable members of society."

The Directorate General welcomes "a noble act"

The Director General of LONASE, Toussaint Manga, praised the commitment of these women, whom he described as "dignified, hardworking, and socially engaged." He emphasized that "it is a noble act that they repeat every year," noting that they mobilize their own funds even before receiving institutional support. He also mentioned the recent initiative of the secretaries' association, which organized a blood drive, affirming with conviction that "women remain the heart and soul of LONASE."

This gesture provides invaluable support to the daaras and orphanages that face constant needs for the care of vulnerable children. According to the head of Lonase, "their contribution is a real breath of fresh air" for these often impoverished institutions. Through this mobilization, AFLO reaffirms its leading role in the institution's social responsibility by placing people at the heart of its priorities.
