Éducation citoyenne et sécurité routière : Édupolsen, le projet de la Police Nationale pour sensibiliser la jeunesse

The Aïnoumane School (Pikine 12) in Djidah Thiaroye Kao hosted the launch of the second phase of the Edupolsen project (Senegalese Police Education) on Monday, January 12, 2026. The ceremony was presided over by the Deputy Director General of the National Police, Chief Superintendent Abdou Wahab Sall. This new phase of the project aims to raise students' awareness of road safety, promote civic education, and reduce road accidents.

It was with great emotion that the Comptroller General Abdou Wahab Sall returned to the benches of his old school, Pikine 12, where he completed his primary education.

“These walls have been the historical witnesses of my first steps in knowledge. It is here that I began to forge the values that have guided my entire career in service to the nation. Returning to this school is not simply a return to the places of my childhood; it is also a reconnection with the roots of the servant I have become,” said Mr. Sall, visibly moved.

Édupolsen embodies a new approach to the National Police, aiming to educate, support, and share values with Senegalese youth. "Édupolsen's ambition is clear: it is about preventing security problems rather than repressing them," he explained, while also praising the fundamental role of teachers.

A model of success for students

The headmaster of Pikine 12 school, Moussa Dieng, praised the exemplary career of the former student. "Your journey is an example of success and dedication. From our classrooms to your current position, you have climbed the ranks with determination, competence, and integrity. You are an ambassador for our school," he emphasized, recalling the importance of institutional collaboration to strengthen security.

For his part, the president of the parents' association, Assane Diouf, urged families to better supervise their children. He also suggested building police stations near elementary schools to strengthen this support system. Following the meeting, a significant donation of teaching materials was made to the school.

Prevention at the heart of the police mission

Beyond the tribute, road safety and civic education remain central to Édupolsen. The project serves as a foundation for teaching respect for national symbols, environmental protection, and the prevention of juvenile delinquency and addictions.

Police Lieutenant Siré Ndiaye, head of the accident unit at the Dakar central police station, emphasized that the police also have an educational mission. "We want to place the police at the heart of schools to help students become responsible citizens. Today's students are tomorrow's drivers. By raising their awareness early, we improve road safety for the future," he stated.

Speaking about the students' receptiveness, Lieutenant Ndiaye reaffirmed that the Edupolsen program is intended to be extended across the entire national territory to make prevention a sustainable lever for public safety.
