Lutte contre le cancer : Plus de 500 femmes dépistées à Khombole

The breast and cervical cancer screening caravan dedicated its day this Saturday, October 25, to the women of Khombole. After touring the southern regions (Kolda, Ziguinchor, and Sédhiou), this team of doctors deployed by the Ministry of Health and Public Hygiene traveled to Khombole.

Under the initiative of Dr Mor Diagne, in collaboration with the Khombole health district, the midwives association, the NGO Action Femme Enfant contre le cancer, this screening is combined with multidisciplinary medical consultations.

Dr. Mor Diagne, technical advisor to the Minister of Health in charge of pharmacy and coordinator of the Patriotic Medical Holidays, noted a strong turnout among the women of Khombole. "More than 500 women have registered for cervical cancer screening. This shows that they are increasingly aware of the importance of prevention," he said.

Dr. Diagne then reported suspected cases that require examinations.

According to him, screening allows for the early detection of precancerous lesions, which can be treated in time. He also believes that it prevents the disease from reaching an advanced stage, where treatments become cumbersome, expensive, uncertain, and require a technical platform that is often unavailable in many parts of the country.

"The first screening begins with yourself. Breast self-examination, for example, is a simple procedure that every woman should do every month, at the end of her menstrual cycle. In case of changes or doubts, you should consult a specialist immediately," he advises.

He also invites women to take advantage of the free consultation days to have a comprehensive health assessment.

The women beneficiaries of Khombole welcomed this day and thanked the initiators for this free service which allowed them to examine their state of health.

Dépistage, et après ? Arrêtons le Folklore d'un jour où d'un mois. La Santé en Afrique reste le premier défit des dirigeants africains, hélas c'est un luxe pour les couches défavorisées. In fine se nourrir via une Agriculture développante.
