Formation et insertion professionnelle : Le 3FPT concrétise le rêve de 100 jeunes sénégalais

As part of the Training-Integration Projects (PFI), which is an approach to guarantee professional integration, 100 young drivers received their certificate of completion of training and their taxi key.

Made possible through a tripartite public-private partnership between the transport platform KAI Ñu Dem, the Vocational and Technical Training Funding Fund (3FPT), and the Port and Logistics Training Center (CFMPL), this initiative has now provided these young people with a job and guaranteed their professional integration. The official ceremony was held on Tuesday, May 19, 2026, in Dakar, under the chairmanship of Mr. Amadou Moustapha Ndieck Sarré, Minister of Employment and Vocational and Technical Training, in the presence of the Director General of 3FPT, Dr. Babo Amadou Ba; Ms. Awa Ndiaye Sagna, Director of CFMPL; Mr. Pape Seyni Ndiaye, co-founder of KAI Ñu Dem; the beneficiaries; and others.

A human project initiated and brought to fruition through a tripartite partnership

The culmination of this carefully conceived and passionately undertaken human project, made possible by the rare convergence of three strong wills around a single objective—namely, empowering Senegalese people to shape their own future—has been marked by a significant gesture: the simultaneous presentation of a skills certificate and a work tool. Initiated by the KAI Ñu Dem platform, fully funded by 3FPT, and implemented by CFMPL, the project was completed today.

In total, 100 young Senegalese drivers are undergoing this three-month professional training and receiving certificates and taxi keys, as part of this Training-Integration Project (PFI).

"3FPT is still committed to improving training in general, but urban mobility in particular."

The Minister of Employment and Vocational and Technical Training, who presided over the meeting, reiterated the importance of the initiative. "We have trained 100 young drivers to improve urban mobility. These young people have not only received their training certificates but also the keys to the vehicles that have been given to them," emphasized Amadou Moustapha Ndieck Sarré.

"So, this is to say that 3FPT is still in this drive to improve training in general, but urban mobility in particular," added the supervisory body.

Funding of 40 million FCFA to strengthen the professional capacity of these young drivers and ensure their professional integration

To provide a concrete response to the government's commitment to strengthening human capital and promoting youth employment, the 3FPT (National Fund for Vocational Training and Employment Promotion) has granted 40 million CFA francs in funding to the company KAI. This funding will not only enhance the professional skills of 100 young drivers but also ensure their professional integration through recruitment. "This project represents much more than a simple training initiative. It embodies a collective commitment to the skills development and integration of young Senegalese people. It is a crucial lever for our economic and social development," explained Dr. Babo Amadou Ba.

In this regard, the Director General of the Vocational and Technical Training Funding Fund (3FPT) urged the beneficiaries to respect the highway code and to complete a checklist before starting their vehicles. "Please, guys, do your checklist. I solemnly ask you. Tires and brakes, lights, and your dashboard," he told the beneficiaries.

"We must thank 3FPT for giving us this opportunity."

The co-founder of the KAI Ñu Dem platform maintained that through this fruitful partnership, they wanted to demonstrate that it is possible to professionalize the taxi driver profession in Senegal. "This ceremony symbolizes an opportunity for the candidates, for all of us, and the trust placed in us by 3FPT, which funded this program. We must warmly thank 3FPT for giving us this opportunity," declared Mr. Pape Seyni Ndiaye.

Even better, he adds: "This ceremony primarily symbolizes a new vision of transportation. Through this partnership, we wanted to demonstrate that it is possible to professionalize the taxi driver profession, create decent and sustainable jobs, and build modern mobility to serve the people."

"A project of this nature cannot be realized without the necessary resources."

The director of CFMPL, for her part, praised the financial contribution of 3FPT in achieving the objectives of this vocational training program. "CFMPL stepped up. We took charge of training these drivers with the seriousness and level of excellence that our center has been committed to maintaining since its inception. But a project of this nature cannot be realized without the necessary resources. And this is where 3FPT played an absolutely crucial role," explained Ms. Awa Ndiaye Sagna.

"This training comes at just the right time in an environment riddled with failures and numerous incidents."

According to the participants, this 100% free professional training came at the perfect time, given the current road safety challenges. "We understand the significance of this event, which marks an important step in our careers, towards the common goal we have set for ourselves: to revolutionize the transport sector and become top professionals," emphasized their representative, El Hadj Mbaye.

"This training comes at the right time in an environment riddled with failures and multiple incidents," added the young man, before solemnly thanking 3FPT and its partners.

It is important to remember that Training and Integration Projects (PFIs) are training programs designed to meet previously identified integration needs. A PFI can be initiated by a legally established company, local authorities, or any other entity that has recruitment/integration needs or supports the business creation projects of trainees. It targets young people aged 15 to 40 who are not in employment, training, or education and are seeking qualifications, as well as youth groups and those with innovative projects. PFIs are reviewed by a committee of experts from the 3FPT (French Federation of Public Service Training) and then approved by the general management. A tripartite agreement is then signed for implementation.

Established by decree no. 2014-1264 dated October 7, 2014, the Vocational and Technical Training Financing Fund (3FPT) is an initiative of the Government of Senegal, implemented with the support of the World Bank and the French Development Agency (AFD). As a public utility structure created to provide a concrete response to the capacity-building needs of the private sector and the issue of youth employability, the 3FPT's main mission is to finance training projects for company personnel and members of professional organizations, training institutions, and young people seeking qualifications, and to provide technical and financial support to vocational and technical training establishments.

The KAI platform, meanwhile, is a community of professionals committed to seeking new, reliable and sustainable solutions to improve mobility in Africa, always with transparency and integrity.

The Port and Logistics Training Center (CFMPL) is the first and only center in all of Sub-Saharan Africa capable of providing training based on a competency-based approach that is tailored to the needs of professionals in the sector. Its mission is to impart all the necessary knowledge and skills related to the fields of logistics, transport, and handling.
