"DE L'HOMME À L'HUMAIN" : Un ouvrage qui allie philosophe, spirituel et temporel
Mame Cheikh Guèye, a Doctor of Pharmacy, has published a 162-page book entitled "From Man to Human: An Often Unfinished Journey." The book launch took place on Saturday, December 6, 2025, in Thiès.
In this book, the author explains that man is a biological being by nature, whereas humanity is an essence, an ideal to be attained through a personal and continuous quest. According to him, becoming human involves embodying values, virtues, and a coherence between nature, personality, and individual identity.
Dr. Mame Cheikh Guèye addressed the concepts of identity, personality, and character. He asserted that a true human being is one in whom all three are aligned. In this book, he demonstrates that a true human being is someone who draws inspiration from Sufism, which he presents as a path of spiritual elevation, parallel to the quest for humanization.
According to the author, the central message of this book is an invitation to initiate the process of humanization, to become a better version of oneself each day, in a society adrift and lacking direction. Dr. Guèye hopes that this book will play a role in raising awareness within Senegalese society.
He states that the book arose from a series of personal reflections on the human condition, inspired by life experiences. It took him about a year to write. In it, he addresses philosophical and religious themes (notably Sufism, which he defines as a path to humanization), and emphasizes the importance of spiritual guides in this quest, citing figures such as Serigne Touba, Cheikh Ahmed Tidjane Chérif, and Serigne Cheikh Ibrahim Niass, among other great men.
This book aims to be philosophical, spiritual and practical, serving individual and collective transformation.
