Lutte contre la cybercriminalité : La police nationale lance sa plateforme de signalement en ligne des infractions cybercriminelles
The National Police has launched its online reporting platform for cybercrimes, developed by the Special Division for Combating Cybercrime. The official launch ceremony for the pilot phase, held on Wednesday, February 12, 2026, at the Training Directorate (formerly the National Police Academy) in Dakar, was presided over by Divisional Commissioner Moustapha Diouf, Deputy Director of the Judicial Police. Also present were Ms. Evelyne Guèye, Child Protection Specialist at UNICEF; Ms. Madjiguène Diop, Coordinator of the Child Protection Support Unit (CAPE), representing the Ministry of Family, Social Action, and Solidarity; and others.
An essential alternative for making direct contact with the relevant police services
Initiated by the Special Cybersecurity Division as part of its online child protection efforts, with support from UNICEF, the online cybercrime reporting platform is a strategic tool designed to streamline administrative procedures, digitize services, and interconnect the databases of the National Police Directorate. It provides a vital alternative for individuals who, fearing stigmatization, reprisals, or social exclusion, are hesitant to travel to a police station. Through the platform, they can contact the relevant services, submit an initial report online, and then later file and confirm their complaint in a controlled and confidential environment.
"A strategic tool for modernizing police action, preventing offenses, and aiding decision-making."
According to Divisional Commissioner Moustapha Diouf, Deputy Director of the Judicial Police, this online platform for reporting cybercrimes, developed in-house by national police experts, is a key driver of public sector reform and the strengthening of community policing. It also contributes to improving the early detection of cybercrimes, enhancing the responsiveness and operational efficiency of specialized services, facilitating the centralization, analysis, and use of reports, and increasing public trust in the institutional framework for combating cybercrime.
In this regard, it indicates that the platform constitutes a strategic tool for modernizing police action, preventing offenses and assisting in decision-making.
According to Divisional Commissioner Moustapha Diouf, "beyond its technical contribution, this platform has particular importance on human and operational levels.
Finally, the deputy director of the judicial police indicated that the platform implemented by the Special Division for Combating Cybersecurity is fully deployed, secure and made accessible online.
It is currently functional and ready to be used in a testing phase to validate the mechanisms for reporting, collecting, processing and using data, as well as the interaction between users and the operational teams of the DSC.
"Report with confidence: anonymously or identified, protect your community"
In his presentation of the platform, Commissioner Pape Mamadou Djidiack Faye, head of the Special Cybersecurity Division (DSC), reviewed the context, challenges, objectives, and functionalities of this strategic tool for combating cybercrime. He explained that the platform offers users an official, secure, and confidential channel for reporting information and communication technology-related offenses to the Special Cybercrime Division.
It explains that the platform offers three functionalities: reporting, secure processing, and monitoring. It allows: children who are victims of cybercrime to report incidents and, if necessary, file a complaint discreetly; and women who are victims of violence to also file a complaint discreetly.
From a decision-making perspective, he explains, the platform allows authorities to understand the phenomenon of cybercrime, whether it be online sales offenses, offenses of violence against children, or any other cyber offense.
It also addresses mobile phone theft. The head of the Special Cybersecurity Division explains that it offers users the option to report a mobile phone theft so that teams can handle and follow up as quickly as possible.
The initiative was praised and commended by UNICEF.
Ms. Evelyne Guèye, Child Protection Specialist at UNICEF, for her part, praised and commended this excellent initiative by the national police even before UNICEF arrived to set up the platform.
