Modernisation portuaire : le Port Autonome de Dakar scelle un pacte numérique avec Orange Sénégal

The Port of Dakar has taken a decisive step in its technological transformation. On Thursday, March 5, 2026, the National Autonomous Port Company of Dakar (SONAPAD) and Orange Senegal formalized a strategic partnership aimed at the complete digitalization of port operations. This agreement, signed at SONAPAD headquarters, launches an ambitious program to make Dakar's infrastructure a model of digital performance.

"Rebuilding value chains"

The ambition displayed by the general management goes beyond a simple technical update. For Mr. Wally Diouf Bodian, Director General of SONAPAD, the challenge is structural: "It is no longer just a matter of computerizing existence, but of rebuilding our value chains around robust and resilient digital infrastructures," he stated during the ceremony.

This vision translates into thirteen key projects organized around five major pillars: infrastructure connectivity, cybersecurity, electronic payments, technological innovation, and the digitalization of operations. The ultimate goal is to transform the port into a smart operational hub, capable of competing with the largest international hubs.

A lever for growth for the national economy

As a technology partner, Orange Senegal contributes its expertise and infrastructure to optimize logistics flows. Brelotte Ba, CEO of Orange Senegal, highlighted the macroeconomic impact of this collaboration: “With digitalization, ports are becoming catalysts for growth. Our role is to support port stakeholders in building a prosperous Senegal, while ensuring security and efficiency.”

This project aims to automate often cumbersome administrative processes, thereby improving the quality of service for the entire port community and its business partners. In conclusion, Mr. Bodian reiterated this mutual commitment: “Together, we affirm a shared vision of a modern, efficient port fully integrated into the digital economy.”

With this signing, the Port of Dakar consolidates its strategic positioning in West Africa, asserting itself more than ever as the digital engine of Senegalese trade.
