« Mois béni pour tous » : Le Port de Dakar offre des enveloppes et des packs alimentaires à ses vaillants dockers
The Dakar Autonomous Port Foundation (PAD) continues its donation distribution days as part of its "Blessed Month for All" initiative. Following a donation to the Archdiocese of Dakar, it presented a significant gift to the dockworkers of the Port of Dakar. The official ceremony took place on Wednesday, March 4, 2026, presided over by Mr. Waly Diouf Bodiang, Chairman of the Board of the Dakar Autonomous Port Foundation and also Director General of the PAD. Also present were Mr. Mouhamadou Ngouda Mboup, Chairman of the Board of Directors of the PAD; Ms. Diouma Tirera Maréga, General Administrator of the PAD Foundation; Mr. Abou Ba, Secretary General of the Dockworkers' Union (SEMPOS); and the dockworkers who received the donation, among others.
A food pack and a financial package for the most vulnerable dockworkers
Ramadan and Lent being periods of sacred fasting, the Dakar Autonomous Port Foundation wanted to mark these times of devotion, sharing, and charity by supporting the port's valiant dockworkers, both Muslim and Christian. This is a civic initiative that the Dakar Autonomous Port Foundation has been undertaking for years. It has been strengthened by the implementation of the Port of Dakar's Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) approach.
In this capacity, the Chairman of the Board of the PAD Foundation presented several donations consisting of food packages and cash assistance to 100 of the most vulnerable dockworkers, based on criteria defined in conjunction with their union, to help them meet their needs during this holy month. "Dockworkers are considered one of the essential links in the logistics chain, under the concept of 'A blessed month for all,'" emphasized Waly Diouf Bodiang.
Through this action, the Autonomous Port of Dakar demonstrates its ongoing commitment to improving the living conditions of dockworkers and strengthening solidarity within the port community. This civic engagement, long carried out for the benefit of this important target group within the port system, is perfectly aligned with the missions of its foundation and its programs, including the participation of dockworkers' children in the Autonomous Port of Dakar's educational communities, based on criteria of academic excellence and performance; the professional development of over 2,000 dockworkers to facilitate their integration within the Port Authority; and support during religious holidays.
In addition to these donations for a "Blessed Month for All," the Chairman of the Board of the Port Authority of Dakar (PAD) Foundation announced that the foundation has decided to provide dockworkers with a ticket for the pilgrimage to the holy sites of Islam this year. This fulfills a request made to the PAD management during the last annual distribution of donations to dockworkers at the Port of Dakar.
For the Director General of the PAD, these acts of solidarity constitute "reliable values of cohesion" which he considers "essential for the harmonious and sustainable development" of the Autonomous Port of Dakar.
Waly Diouf Bodiang took the opportunity to reiterate the PAD's commitment, through its foundation, to supporting dockworkers in meeting their respective needs and expectations, with the aim of contributing to their well-being, in line with axis 2 of the "Senegal 2050" vision. He also urged the dockworkers to redouble their efforts so that together they can address the current challenges and issues facing the port ecosystem.
The Director General of the PAD was thanked for his initiative.
This gesture of great social significance was lauded and duly praised by the dockworkers' representative. After expressing his joy and satisfaction, Maoudé Sow warmly thanked Director General Waly Diouf Bodiang for his initiative and his unwavering support for the dockworkers of the Port of Dakar.
It should be recalled that the mission of the Autonomous Port of Dakar Foundation is to contribute to the improvement of the living conditions of vulnerable Senegalese populations in the areas of health, education, environment, training and integration, culture and sport.
