New York: le discours magistral de Sokhna Aida Diallo sur la santé maternelle et infantile
The spiritual leader of the Thiantacônes of Yessal Gui, Sokhna Aïda Diallo, participated in the Africa Health Innovations international medical forum in New York last weekend. The widow of Cheikh Béthio Thioune made a lasting impression with her insightful presentation on maternal and child health, the session's theme. At the conclusion of the event, she was honored by the Association of Senegalese in America for her commitment.
The woman known as the mother of the Thiantacounes delivered a masterful speech in support of maternal and child health. In her address, delivered in English, she emphasized that "protecting mothers and children means protecting life at its source." For her, the foundation of healthcare rests not solely on hospitals or public policies, but also on three timeless pillars: faith that uplifts, solidarity that unites, and community engagement that transforms.
His vision for development is unequivocal: "to build a fairer, more humane, more inclusive health system. A system where every mother, where every child, whatever their condition, would have an equal chance to be born, to live and to thrive."
At the end of these days of discussions, the Association of Senegalese in America recognized this commitment by awarding him an honorary distinction. This recognition crowns a unique journey, in which Mouride spirituality serves as a catalyst for social action.
Because Sokhna Aïda Saliou belongs to a lineage. That of Cheikh Ahmadou Bamba, who taught that faith is expressed through useful work. That of Serigne Saliou Mbacké, builder of healthcare infrastructure serving the most vulnerable. That of Serigne Béthio Thioune, who structured a genuine healthcare system at the heart of the community.
