Pape Malick Ndour envoyé en prison : Ses camarades vilipendent Ousmane Sonko chez Serigne Mountakha
A delegation from the Convergence of Republican Executives (CCR) visited the general khalifa of the Mourides, Serigne Mountakha Mbacké, in Touba on Monday to inform him of the detention of their coordinator Pape Malick Ndour and to denounce what they call a "political cabal" orchestrated by Prime Minister Ousmane Sonko.
A tour of religious families to plead their case
Bocar Ndiongue, a member of the CCR, addressed the press after the meeting. "We are in Touba today. This marks the beginning of a tour we will be conducting with religious families. We started today in Touba," he stated, adding that the delegation plans to meet with all the Caliphs General of Senegal, as well as the Church and all other religious denominations.
Pape Malick Ndour presented as a victim of injustice
Regarding the case of their coordinator, the spokesperson was categorical: "Pape Malick Ndour is in detention. This is a purely political matter. He has been imprisoned in connection with a case in which he is neither directly nor indirectly involved."
Before returning to the context of the case: “It was in 2018 that there was a report from the IGF (General Inspectorate of Finance) concerning the management of PRODAC. At the same time, Pape Malick Ndour was neither with PRODAC, nor involved in any way in its management. It was in 2019 that he was appointed coordinator of PRODAC. So this report does not concern him at all. Today, you see that he is in prison and detained because of this report.”
Bocar Ndiongue then broadened the debate to include other leaders within their camp. "This is a massive conspiracy. Beyond the Pape Malick case, our comrades have been detained without any justification and without a shred of evidence," he denounced, citing several names. "There's the case of Farba Ngom, who has just been released. There's the case of Mansour Faye, and others. We can mention Mamadou Guèye and Moustapha Diop," he listed.
According to him, these individuals "were simply detained for the sole reason that they belong to our party, for the sole reason that they have loudly and clearly stated that they are with President Macky Sall and that they continue to support him."
Sonko singled out, an action plan announced
The spokesperson directly implicated the Prime Minister. "Once again, the Prime Minister, in this case the president of Pastef, is behind all these imprisonments. We will say it loud and clear and we will continue to carry out our action plan. We will fight, we will not let this happen," he declared firmly.
At the end of the hearing, the general caliph of the Mourides offered prayers for the republican leaders, Seneweb has learned.
