*SENDOU: Le président Bassirou Diomaye Faye inaugure la raffinerie MAVAMAR Industries SA*
President Bassirou Diomaye Faye officially inaugurated the MAVAMAR Industries SA refinery in Sendou on Tuesday. This major industrial infrastructure project is part of the structural transformation of the national economy and the promotion of food sovereignty.
*A strategic infrastructure for the national economy*
The ceremony brought together administrative authorities, private sector representatives, and financial partners. Several speakers addressed the audience. First, the Managing Director of MAVAMAR Industries SA, Souleymane Ndoye, emphasized that the inaugurated industrial unit represents "a significant contribution to the country's economic growth." He stated that the project will reduce dependence on vegetable oil imports, stabilize prices on the domestic market, and strengthen local processing of agricultural raw materials. He also expressed his gratitude to the President of the Republic for the attention given to the project since its inception.
*The State reaffirms its support for industrialization*
Speaking at the event, the President of the Republic declared that the inauguration of MAVAMAR Industries SA constitutes "a significant step" in building an industrialized Senegal. He stated that the newly inaugurated industrial unit illustrates the State's commitment to supporting productive projects capable of processing national resources locally and strengthening food security.
The Head of State reassured economic stakeholders of the authorities' commitment to improving the business climate and supporting industrial initiatives. He reaffirmed that Senegal has the necessary capacity to ensure its food sovereignty, before congratulating the management of MAVAMAR Industries SA.
*A call to the private sector*
In his address, President Bassirou Diomaye Faye called on the private sector to invest more in the country, particularly in the productive and industrial sectors, which he considers essential drivers of economic growth.
*Towards the creation of a vast industrial hub in Sendou*
Alongside the inauguration, the Head of State laid the foundation stone for an industrial zone covering more than 276 hectares, planned for the same site in Sendou. According to the President of the Republic, this is an unprecedented initiative, marking "the first time a private partner has established an industrial zone of this scale."
Ultimately, this industrial zone is expected to create nearly 23,000 jobs, strengthening the economic and social impact of the Sendou industrial hub and consolidating MAVAMAR's position.
