Five days before Tabaski, the Séwékhaye livestock market is showing a level of supply deemed satisfactory by the administrative authorities of the Thiès region. Visiting the site with a delegation from the Ministry of Livestock, representatives of livestock farmers and consumers, the Deputy Governor of Thiès, Ababacar Sadikh Niang, announced that 32,000 head of livestock have already been registered, compared to 28,000 at the same time last year.
According to him, sheep prices range from 75,000 to 400,000 FCFA, although the most common prices are between 100,000 and 150,000 FCFA. He assured that sheep are available in sufficient numbers and at prices affordable for everyone.
The administrative authority also highlighted the efforts made by the State to support livestock farmers. To date, 100 tons of subsidized livestock feed have been distributed, with an additional 10 tons expected, bringing the total allocation to 110 tons for the Séwékhaye livestock market.

He indicated that all necessary arrangements had been made to allow livestock farmers to operate under better conditions.
