[Sitöé ] Parentalité positive, conjugalité: la sexothérapeute Maimouna Sow révèle les secrets d’une vie conjugale réussie
Marriage, pregnancy, and childbirth are pivotal stages in the family and personal life cycle, marking major transitions. These involve physical, emotional, and social transformations, including the transition to life as a family of three and the redefinition of the couple's identity.
According to sex therapist and reproductive health expert Coach Maimouna Sow, to succeed in married life, it is crucial to build a solid team, share common projects while preserving one's private life.
The trained midwife supports families in preparing for and overcoming the different stages of marriage.
However, she argues that priorities are unfortunately relegated to the background. "Like childbirth, for example, women prepare better for baptism than for this moment which is supposed to be joyful and painless," she believes.
Through preparatory courses, Maimouna Sow and her team train women in marriage, pregnancy, childbirth, breastfeeding, and positive parenting, as well as providing postnatal care to ensure the health of both mother and child. The emotional and sexual lives of couples are also addressed at the "Academy of Midwives," the facility dedicated to this purpose.
"In Senegal, one in four couples divorces after the woman gives birth." This sad fact has been studied by a positive parenting coach and prenatal yoga instructor. She advocates for men's involvement and understanding in the face of the obvious hormonal changes women experience.
