Tabaski à Ziguinchor : Les imams et les autorités appellent à la paix et à la cohésion

Tabaski 2026 in Ziguinchor was celebrated in an atmosphere of religious fervor and contemplation. The sermons of the imams, relayed by local authorities, shared a common theme: peace, national cohesion, and collective responsibility in the face of the challenges facing Senegal and the world.
Youth, a symbol of faith and resilience
The imam ratib of the Grand Mosque of Ziguinchor, Ismaïla Aïdara, placed youth at the heart of his sermon. Recalling the sacrifice of Ismaïl by his father Abraham, he emphasized that Tabaski is first and foremost "a day for the youth."

According to him, young people must be models of discipline and faith. "Young role models, young examples who know how to respect their parents, who know how to respect authorities, who have faith in God and who accept the divine will."

The president of the Federation of Religious Associations and Communities in Casamance, Chérif Cheikh Boun Chamsidine Aidara, stressed the responsibility of parents and educators: to transmit the good word, to educate in the faith and to instill the values of peace and brotherhood.
A return to social and religious values
At the Boucotte mosque, Imam El Hadj Alioune Sow delivered a firm sermon, denouncing the social ills that weaken society: lies, slander, hypocrisy, and rivalries. "We spend too much time harming others," he lamented, urging the faithful to cultivate love for their neighbor and sincerity.

He also warned about the decline in respect for the elderly and reminded everyone that the Muslim faith is based first and foremost on "truth, kindness and mutual respect".
The response from local authorities
The governor welcomed the various messages from the imams and recalled the State's commitment to rebuild the great mosque of Ziguinchor, a project already taken into account by the President of the Republic.
Mor Talla Tine urged the people to prioritize good deeds and tolerance, while emphasizing the youth facing the scourges of drugs and illegal immigration.

"The State has an obligation to protect youth," he affirmed, inviting young people to seize the opportunities offered by state programs such as DRFJ, AMPEJ and 3FPT to succeed in Senegal and contribute to the national endeavor.
A common message: peace and national cohesion
From the Grand Mosque in Boucotte, and including local authorities, the common thread is clear: peace and national cohesion. The imams reiterated that Senegal's stability depends on the unity of its citizens – young and old, religious leaders and authorities, artisans and teachers.

In a world threatened by multiple crises, Tabaski becomes a moment for collective reflection and a call for shared responsibility.
Ultimately, Tabaski 2026 in Ziguinchor was not just a religious celebration, but a message of national mobilization. The sermons of the imams and the reactions of the authorities converged on a common demand: to build a united, cohesive Senegal resolutely committed to peace.
