Thiès : Acquisition d'une Imagerie par résonance magnétique pour renforcer l'établissement hospitalier militaire

The Thiès Military Hospital (EHMT) has acquired a Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) scanner. This state-of-the-art tool has strengthened the healthcare services of this level 2 hospital, benefiting both the defense and security forces and the civilian population.

On Friday, October 31st, the Chief of Staff of the Senegalese Armed Forces, General Mbaye Cissé, presided over the inauguration ceremony of this MRI machine and emphasized the importance of acquiring this equipment for the Thiès Military Hospital. He then underscored the commitment of the military authorities to strengthening the healthcare capabilities of the defense and security forces, as well as the civilian population.

The Chief of the General Staff also emphasized the complementary roles of the Ministry of the Armed Forces and the Ministry of Health, as well as the importance of military medicine in the implementation of public health policies. "The inauguration ceremony of the MRI scanner is considered a significant step in the development of the Thiès Military Hospital and in achieving the strategic objectives of the 2025-2029 national development strategy," said General Mbaye Cissé.

According to him, this modern equipment represents a major advancement in the patient care capacity offered by the EHMT (Emergency Hospital of Thiès). He added that the MRI will raise the hospital's standards by providing an increased capacity to investigate the most complex pathologies and facilitate access for users by reducing waiting times for civilian and military patients. To illustrate the full significance of this acquisition, he noted that prior to the installation of the MRI in Thiès, only Dakar and Touba possessed such a cutting-edge tool.

Colonel Malick Ndiaye, Director of the Thiès Military Hospital, presented an impressive overview of the hospital's achievements, notably the acquisition of this MRI unit. He emphasized the importance of this technology in improving the quality of care and reducing appointment waiting times.

Malick Ndiaye also expressed his gratitude to the Chief of the General Staff of the Armed Forces for his continued support and highlighted future projects for the EHMT (Armed Forces Medical School), including the construction of a psychiatric unit and a dialysis unit. The Colonel also emphasized the importance of the Armed Forces Health Service's role in the development of medicine in Senegal and requested that the EHMT be included in the Multi-Year Contract of Objectives and Resources (CPOM).
