Thiès : Beaucoup de désagréments causés par le canal de Nguinth
At their wit's end, residents of the Nguinth neighborhood in the Thiès-Nord commune have sounded the alarm, decrying an "unbearable situation" created by the drainage canal intended to relieve the area during the rainy season. The residents are deeply uneasy about the delays in the development work.
Launched several years ago, with full funding from the African Development Bank (AfDB), this work was initially expected to last eight months. Unfortunately, the project, which remains unfinished to this day, exposes local residents to recurring flooding, causing "significant material damage and, sometimes, even loss of life."
Residents blame this delay on "a clear lack of will to complete the work, despite repeated warnings." They also lament: "Two ministers in Ousmane Sonko's government, namely Balla Moussa Fofana, in charge of the Environment and Ecological Transition, and Cheikh Tidiane Dièye, Minister of Hydraulics and Sanitation, have been informed of the matter, but no concrete action has yet been taken."
"In Nguinth, the rainy season is synonymous with hell. The canal is overflowing, the houses are flooded, and we have already lost lives. It is no longer tenable," warns the collective defending the neighborhood's interests. Residents are directly calling on the relevant authorities, Minister Cheikh Tidiane Dièye in particular, for urgent action. The people of Nguinth, standing together as one, with the firm determination to fight to the end, are demanding a lasting and rapid solution to prevent the 2025 rainy season from once again being synonymous with tragedy.

je propose une concertation réunissant tous les ingénieurs en aménagement du pays pour la création d'un fleuve artificiel allant de dakar au férlo. Je suis de DAKAR et je connais un peu le pays .En partant de JET D'EAU avec raccordement MARISTE TECHNOPOLE et tout droit en passant par ALLOU KAGNE/ THIES/ BABA GARAGE /DAROU MOUSTI/ BARKEDJI avec des connections pour Tivaouane et Touba .A BARKEDJI on se connecte sur le bras venant du lac ou continuer jusqu'à RANEROU.
Je ne suis pas ingénieur mais je sais que c'est possible et qu'avec le changement climatique on aura encore plus de pluies abondantes .Car il y a des fleuves artificiels qui existent dans le monde.
