« Une victoire du collectif » les propos de Kalidou Koulibaly après le Sénégal-Mali
After Senegal's victory against Mali, Kalidou Koulibaly spoke in the mixed zone about the team's performance and the spirit of solidarity that drives the Lions.
“The start of the match was decent. We managed to score that goal which did us good and we tried to play well. Then, when they were down to 10 men, they put us under some pressure and we struggled to find our positions. But at half-time, the coach made some adjustments and, thanks to our experience, we showed that we are a solid team,” explained the Senegalese captain.
He then emphasized the importance of respecting the opponent: "You have to respect everyone. It's hard to come and claim you're stronger than others; you have to show it on the field. Today was a derby; Mali wanted to do everything to win. We also wanted to do everything to reach the semi-finals, and we did it."
For Koulibaly, this victory is above all a collective one: "It's a collective victory. We were solid, we showed some good things, and we can be proud of ourselves. The score matters little, what counts is winning the match."
He also praised his teammates' performance: "Krépin Diatta is in excellent form. Every time he has been called upon, he has proven that he is a great player serving the nation. Today, he deserves all these compliments."
Finally, the captain reminded everyone that the work continues: "We are aware that the work is not finished. There are things to correct and we will correct them for the semi-final, God willing."
