Born in 1994 in the Cité Lamy neighborhood of Thiès, Yacine Lam grew up in a family of musicians and has always been passionate about music. Her father, Papa Lam, a singer who left his mark on his era, introduced her to music at a very young age. Yacine Lam thus began her musical career by covering songs by Ma Sané, a renowned artist from the group Waflash.

His early musical career

When she dropped out of school in the final year of primary school, Yacine went to live with her grandmother in the Som neighborhood, near the headquarters of the Waflash group. There, she began spending time with these musicians at the Palais des Arts. And when she attended a concert by her idol, Ma Sané, one evening, it inspired her even more.

Yacine continued to frequent this club where she met the members of the group Waflash. Later, she decided to release her first single.

From then on, Yacine Lam benefited from the guidance of musician Racine Bâ, keyboardist for Waflash and owner of a recording studio. "When I found Racine in his studio to tell him I wanted to release a track, he first asked me to sing. And I managed to impress him with my beautiful voice. He then decided to mentor me. I often went to his studio to perfect my voice. He corrected me and encouraged me. He took me every day to participate in Waflash's shows at the Palais des Arts," Yacine Lam confided.

His encounter with Race  

In 2018, Yacine released her first singles and three music videos (Yaye, Sa Bisbi and Sénégal Jub Jubal). She then married her mentor Race in 2019.

"After my marriage to Race, things became much easier. My husband has been incredibly supportive. He's always been there for me in my music career. He's taught me so much, especially about chords. If I'm making a name for myself in music today, it's thanks to Race. I was lucky enough to have a musician husband, and that's what explains my success," Yacine Lam rejoiced.

With her powerful voice and captivating stage presence, Yacine Lam quickly gained popularity in Thiès and beyond. She developed her own unique style and released several successful singles. This rising star of Waflash is making her mark in the music scene. Yacine Lam has become a rising star in Senegalese music.

His projects  

A rising star in the Thiès music scene, Yacine Lam has performed extensively in the railway capital, notably on Gorée Island (at the Thiès nightclub), at Lac Rose, and in Saly. She is increasingly determined to succeed in music and showcase her talent beyond Senegal's borders. Yacine is counting on her upcoming album to reach a wider audience and promote Senegalese music internationally. She also hopes to receive support from the authorities to help her develop her career and achieve her goals.
