Espagne : avant de mourir, l'ex-doyenne de l'humanité a livré six secrets pour vieillir en bonne santé et atteindre 117 ans
María Branyas, qui fut la doyenne de l’humanité, avait invité des scientifiques à analyser les clés de sa longévité exceptionnelle. Après plusieurs mois de recherches, les résultats viennent d’être dévoilés.
Un siècle et 17 ans de vie. María Branyas Morera a été la doyenne mondiale de l’humanité pendant longtemps, avant de s’éteindre en août 2024, à l’âge de 117 ans. Son record de longévité reste inégalé dans le monde.
Née en 1907 à San Francisco, aux États-Unis, elle avait déménagé en Espagne alors qu’elle n’était encore qu’une enfant. Fille d’un journaliste de Pampelune, elle a passé les vingt dernières années de sa vie dans sa résidence de Santa Maria de Tura, en Catalogne.
Après que son âge a été inscrit dans le Guinness des records, María Branyas déclarait attribuer sa longévité à : «l’ordre, la tranquillité, les bonnes relations avec la famille et les amis, le contact avec la nature, la stabilité émotionnelle, l’absence de soucis et de regrets, beaucoup de positivité, et enfin, rester loin des personnes toxiques».
Durant la période du Covid-19, la doyenne avait accepté que des scientifiques prélèvent quelques échantillons pour étude. Les résultats étaient probants : son âge biologique était environ 23 ans plus jeune que son âge chronologique.
Dans leur étude, les chercheurs ont identifié plusieurs facteurs favorisant un vieillissement en bonne santé : un métabolisme efficace éliminant rapidement les graisses et sucres nocifs, un microbiome bénéfique, un faible niveau d’inflammation, un système immunitaire performant, ainsi qu’un génome protecteur et résilient.
À cela s’ajoute une génétique chanceuse, María Branyas n’ayant jamais souffert de maladie grave ni de problème de santé majeur, si ce n’est une légère malentendance et quelques difficultés de mobilité.
Le Dr Esteller, responsable des analyses, expliquait au média américain Fox News : «Nous lui avons indiqué que la consommation régulière de yaourt et la composition spécifique des bactéries présentes dans son intestin pouvaient être liées à sa longue durée de vie. Son profil lipidique est exceptionnel : très faible en cholestérol, pauvre en mauvaises graisses et riche en HDL (bonnes graisses)».
María Branyas consommait notamment trois yaourts par jour de la marque catalane La Fageda. Cette déclaration a eu un impact très positif pour cette petite entreprise, située dans les Pyrénées catalanes, dont la demande de yaourts a fortement augmenté.
La Fageda est aussi connue pour son engagement social, favorisant l’insertion professionnelle de personnes en situation de handicap intellectuel ou porteuses de troubles mentaux. Ce coup de projecteur médiatique a permis à l’entreprise de pérenniser son activité et de poursuivre sa mission sociale.
