Attaques du 25 avril au Mali : Le gouverneur Ag Gamou raconte ce qu’il s’est passé à Kidal
It's an open secret. Mali suffered large-scale terrorist attacks on Saturday, April 25th. Seven cities, including Bamako, Kati, and Kidal, were targeted by the perpetrators of violence. Defense Minister Sadio Camara and several soldiers tragically lost their lives in these attacks.
The governor of Kidal, General El Hadj Ag Gamou, who was in the city at the time of the terrorist offensive, recently spoke to Malian television ORTM.
"They had reconnaissance and attack drones."
He described what happened in Kidal that day.
“We woke up between 5:30 and 6:00 a.m. to gunfire everywhere around the governorate. The city was already completely filled with the entire terrorist coalition. There were a great many of them, with a lot of sophisticated equipment. They had reconnaissance and attack drones, kamikaze drones, car bombs, and a lot of armored vehicles and artillery,” recounted General Ag Gamou. In short, the terrorists had deployed significant resources.
"It is a force superior even to the existing force in Kidal," the high-ranking officer acknowledged.
The city was emptied of its inhabitants in 24 hours.
The perpetrators of the violence were members of the "Azawad Liberation Front (FLA), JNIM and mercenaries who came from outside to participate in these various attacks. There were no less than 2000 terrorist fighters in Kidal that day," reports Governor Ag Gamou.
Faced with this large-scale attack, the residents of Kidal quickly fled. According to the high-ranking officer, the city emptied of its inhabitants within 24 hours, clearly demonstrating that the people of Kidal "do not recognize themselves in these terrorist acts."
