The official announcement of the start of the Ramadan fast was made on the evening of Tuesday, February 17, 2026, on the airwaves of Guinean Radio and Television by the Minister Secretary General for Religious Affairs, Elhadj Karamo Diawara.

According to the statement, the crescent moon marking the beginning of the holy month of Ramadan has been sighted in several locations across the country. Consequently, the fast will officially begin this Wednesday, February 18, 2026, throughout the entire national territory.

The minister took this opportunity to offer his congratulations and prayers to the entire Guinean Muslim community, while inviting the faithful to observe this month of fasting in peace, solidarity and piety.
