Kemi Seba : « Nous ne pouvons jamais nous élever en soumettant l’avenir de nos peuples au diktat (du FMI et de…) »
In a recent post on his X account, Kemi Seba criticizes "developmentalism." The activist argues that this "concept, so often touted by African tyrants sponsored by the West, constitutes the backbone of neocolonialism." It serves to "legitimize the systemic dependence of our people on the (Western world), through debt, structural adjustment programs, and their pseudo-aid," asserts the head of Pan-African Emergencies.
For him, Africa will never manage to rise above its current challenges if it remains trapped in the cycle of developmentalism and its institutions that grant loans and impose economic reforms, like the International Monetary Fund (IMF) and the World Bank. "We will never be able to progress by submitting the future of our people to the dictates of the Bretton Woods institutions," Kemi Seba insisted.
He urges Africa to explore paths other than "developmentalism".
"There are paths of endogenous improvement for our societies, which are based on the principles of community economies, or even endo-solidarism. Julius Nyerere spoke of the concept of Ujamaa. Not everything was perfect in the application of his ideology, but it is on this path that we must dig," the activist asserts.
From his point of view, development only serves to "destroy the anthropological foundations of Africa."
“Principles such as the extended family, community and rooted economy are perceived as archaic in order to impose consumerist individualism. It is a programmed uprooting. Africans must not accept it,” denounces Kemi Seba.

Faut savoir que nous sommes dans un monde globalisé et les peuples se mélangent de plus en plus.Toujours parler de souveraineté, c'est ne pas sortir de l'enfantillage. On ne fabrique rien, on ne crée rien et tu nous parles de "diktat".
Essayons plutôt de créer des centres de recherches plutôt que de venir pleurnicher.
