Miss Universe president Raúl Rocha is at the center of a media storm. In a highly anticipated video confession, he leveled accusations against Olivia Yacé, the Ivorian candidate, while admitting to business ties with the family of the current Miss Universe.

Controversial remarks about Olivia Yacé

Rocha accuses Ivory Coast of being a logistical obstacle to Olivia Yacé's victory:

She would need a visa for “more than 175 countries,” he said, which would constitute “too much protocol” for some candidates. He asserts that “coming from a poor country” limits the possibility of fully representing Miss Universe, as the winner must be able to travel everywhere during her reign. For Rocha, these administrative and financial barriers would therefore have worked against Yacé: “Applying for 175 visas is a bit difficult,” he stated, lamenting that certain constraints reduce equal opportunities.

These remarks have sparked outrage among Olivia's fans and many observers, who see them as a form of contempt or a structural disadvantage for certain candidates based on their nationality.

Business ties with the Bosch family

Meanwhile, Rocha admits to maintaining significant economic ties with the family of Fátima Bosch, the current Miss Universe:

-He acknowledges having had "multi-million dollar business negotiations" with Bosch's father's company between 2022 and 2023.

-In his defense, he argues that these relationships are old, and that at the time of the election, “there was no longer any direct link”: “yes, it was in 2022-2023… today there is no longer any link.”

These admissions reinforce the accusations made by some observers and former judges of the competition, who speak of a major conflict of interest.

Critics denounce a disregard for candidates from less fortunate countries, arguing that visa requirements and logistical barriers limit certain talents.

Others raise an ethical issue: the victory could be influenced by economic interests rather than purely by merit.

Rocha, for his part, maintains that he is acting within the legal framework and rejects accusations of manipulation. He emphasizes that Miss Universe is a private entity, and that certain "myths" are tarnishing its reputation.

Raúl Rocha's revelations are fueling a fundamental debate about transparency, fairness, and ethics in Miss Universe. Between logistics, economic privileges, and national bias, this crisis could well mark a turning point in the competition's history.
