Tivaouane - Veille de Gamou : Projection en avant-première de "Muqaddams"

"Muqaddams." This is the title of the documentary, referring to these religious guides responsible for the propagation of the Tijaniyya, which will be screened in preview on the eve of Gamou, on September 3, in Tivaouane.

Seydina Alioune Guèye, in charge of production at the Zawiya Tijaniyya Cell (Cezat), producer of the film, informs that it will be screened from 6 p.m., the day before Gamou, at the Khalifa Ababacar Sy-Esplanade auditorium of the Tivaouane mosques.

"It is a great day of communion and these Muqadams have played an important role for Islam and the Tariqa Tijaniyya. We intend to show the works of the Muqadams to the younger generation and to all the talibés," explains Mr. Guèye. He continues: In this film, the Zawiya Tijaniyya Cell, the body responsible for scientific animation and communication of the Hadra Malikiyya of Tivaouane, returns to the epic of the Muqadams of Seydi Hadji Malick Sy (RTA), paying tribute to these companions of the holy man, one of the propagators of the Tijaniyya in Senegal.

The documentary chose to tell the story of three of them, namely El Hadji Seydou Nourou Tall (1862-1980), "the faithful companion", Serigne Birahim Diop (1874-1937), "one of the greatest grammarians and theologians of the African continent", and El Hadji Malick Sarr (1847-1934) nicknamed "Taawu Taalibé Yi" (the eldest of the disciples).

"The muqaddams of Seydi Hadji Malick Sy (RTA) are numerous, there are more than a thousand of them, but we chose these three for their connection with Seydi Hadji Malick Sy and the work they had to do in spreading Islam and the Tijaniyya tariqa," explains Seydina Alioune Guèye, who announces that other documentaries will be produced by the Zawiya Tijaniyya Cell on the same subject.

The film is punctuated by testimonies from the direct descendants and families of these men of God and from people familiar with their lives and who have "proven knowledge" of their actions, such as the traditional communicator El Hadji Mansour Mbaye, Seydi Madani Abdoul Aziz and Alioune Diagne.
