Pomme de terre : Les ventes des agro-industries suspendues dès le 28 février
In a circular letter published this Wednesday, February 25, the Ministry of Industry and Commerce announces the suspension of the sale of potatoes by agribusinesses from February 28, 2026 until further notice.
This suspension will "allow small producers, who lack storage capacity, to sell their harvests under better conditions." This will also ensure regulation of the domestic market.
Agribusinesses without cold storage facilities are encouraged to contact the agency, which will "provide them with storage infrastructure".
Furthermore, price monitoring will also be implemented to prevent any speculation and to preserve the purchasing power of consumers.
This measure is part of the monitoring of the local potato marketing campaign, as harvests from family farms begin to arrive on the market, following the import freeze decided on January 16, 2026.
According to Minister Serigne Guèye Diop, the lack of regulation at this stage of the campaign could cause marketing difficulties, including post-harvest losses and unprofitable prices for small producers, who do not have storage capacity.
The Ministry of Industry and Trade calls on stakeholders to strictly adhere to this measure.
