RTS : Sabotage, silence et cécité face à la Grande Transformation portée par le Président Diomaye Faye (Par Lababa FAYE)
Open letter to the Director General of RTS
Mr. Director General,
Senegal is not limited to the air-conditioned plateaus of Triangle Sud. It lives, works and hopes in the fields, workshops and homes of our regions, where people get information and express themselves in Wolof, Pulaar, Serer, Joola, Mandinka or Soninke.
Today, as a citizen and analyst, one observation is gravely necessary: RTS has become the media blind spot of the “Great Transformation” democratically endorsed by the Senegalese people.
On December 31, 2025, the President of the Republic, Bassirou Diomaye Faye, clearly announced the end of a phase of structural reform and the country's entry into the year of direct impact. This speech was neither ceremonial nor rhetorical: it constituted a contract of trust between the State and the Nation.
However, the next day, your 8 p.m. news program made a significant editorial choice.
Instead of mobilizing economists, engineers, sector experts and educators to decipher this national trajectory, more than ten minutes of airtime were squandered on anecdotal content, relegating the presidential vision to the background.
This is not a simple misjudgment.
This is a serious professional failing, tantamount to informational obstruction.
Mr. Director, what agenda is RTS serving today?
As a mathematician and data analyst, I protest against the marginalization of data vital to national cohesion. To remain silent on this issue is to show contempt.
The Baay of Dahra or Kaffrine, for whom the 342.5 billion FCFA in savings on basic products are not abstract figures, but a matter of daily dignity.
The 831,799 newly electrified Senegalese, from Fouta to Casamance. Why wasn't the true significance of this historic advance explained in Pulaar or Joola?
The patient from Podor or Kédougou, whose access to care depends directly on the 91 billion FCFA injected into health.
The 2,300 jobs revived at SONACOS, a strategic foundation of our food sovereignty.
The people of Touba, who are waiting for the concrete results of the 65 billion FCFA dedicated to sanitation, deserved a rigorous, quantified and honest analysis.
By depriving citizens of expert analysis, you are deliberately weakening the bond of trust between the Head of State and the Nation.
Diagnosis: an imperative for structural reform
This situation also reveals the current limitations of the presidential communication strategy. It is urgent to move from a simple press team to a truly strategic and proactive communication team, capable of establishing a hierarchy of national vision within the public media landscape.
I recommend the establishment of representatives of the Presidency within the editorial staff of RTS and Le Soleil, with a clear mechanism for weighting decision-making:
Coefficient 3 – Absolute priority: Presidential communication (vision, public policies, national trajectory).
Coefficient 1: Representatives of the judicial and legislative powers.
Senegal, from Louga to Ziguinchor, is on the move.
You cannot lead a people towards sovereignty by concealing their progress in the margins of public information.
Mr. Director General, a profound editorial overhaul is required.
Loyalty to the Nation requires that the presidential word, when it commits the collective future, be placed at the heart of the public audiovisual service.
It is time to put national television back at the service of the Republic, the people and the truth.
