Berline 2026 : le cinéma sénégalais à l’honneur, « Dao » d’Alain Gomis en lice pour l’Ours d’Or
Nine years after dazzling critics with "Félicité" (Grand Jury Prize in 2017), filmmaker Alain Gomis makes a triumphant return to the international stage. His new feature film, titled "Dao," has been officially selected to compete for the Golden Bear at the 76th Berlin International Film Festival, which will take place from February 12 to 22.
International exposure for Senegal
“This is a major international accolade for Senegal,” emphasizes the official statement consulted by Le Soleil. The document also specifies that this is the second time a work by the director has competed for the highest distinction at the Berlin festival – a rare feat that confirms his stature among the masters of contemporary cinema.
The dynamism of local production
Beyond the artistic achievement, this project highlights Senegalese expertise. The co-production is handled by Yoro Mbaye (Yennenga Production & Nafi Films), a choice that reflects the growing strength and dynamism of the local film industry.
