Haute Couture : « Transformation » d’Algueye Dakar propulse la mode sénégalaise sur la scène mondiale
With Transformation, its new 2025-2026 collection, the eponymous brand Algueye Dakar, by designer Abdou Lahad Gueye, presented a fashion show illustrating Senegal's remarkable rise in contemporary fashion. Blending artisanal craftsmanship, modern design, and a strong identity, the event brought together several Senegalese designers and confirmed Dakar as a hub of creativity and innovation.
On Saturday, November 22, 2025, in the garden of the French Residence, the collection, conceived as an ode to metamorphosis, highlighted the human chain that brings clothing to life: artisans, weavers, embroiderers, tailors, and models. Through clean silhouettes, fine materials, and bold cuts, Algueye Dakar reaffirms its vision of a contemporary, authentic, and sustainable African elegance. "I want to bring a touch of contemporary African style to every wardrobe. Elegant and fluid pieces, capable of keeping pace with everyday life."
Wally Seck, a special guest, sets the stage on fire
Among the guests, the artist Wally Seck made a notable appearance wearing an exclusive piece by the designer.
"My presence here is not a surprise because I am a lover of fashion. As you can see, I am wearing an Algueye haircut paired with a super cent, it's very pretty, I love it so much," he said.
During the fashion show, professional model Vincent Mendy also praised the brand's work:
“I’m becoming a regular; this is the fourth time I’ve walked the runway for him. He’s always innovating, and I’m really enjoying the atmosphere. Algueye promotes Senegalese and African culture with every show, and when I wore this new collection, I knew it was made for me.”
