Le Grand Théâtre ferme ses portes : voici les raisons
The Grand Théâtre national Doudou Ndiaye Coumba Rose is temporarily closing its doors. From August 1st to 30th, the cultural institution will be closed, not just for a summer break, but to allow for major renovation and modernization work. The decision was announced Monday by its general director, Serigne Fall Guèye, who described it as a "strategic" operation aimed at optimizing the technical performance of the infrastructure and improving public reception.
The stated objective, according to the APS, is to make the Grand Théâtre a more profitable, more functional space, and better suited to the current demands of live performance. During this break, the National Wrestling Arena at Pikine Technopole will take over to host two major events: a concert by the artist Franglish and a gathering of Sheikh Ibrahima Niass's disciples.
“This is also a test phase to assess the capacity of our partner infrastructures to host various events,” stressed Serigne Fall Guèye.
The APS informs that a press briefing is planned at the end of the works to take stock of the completed projects and reveal the new directions of the Grand Théâtre.
