Journalist Arame Ndiaye, a well-known writer for the national daily newspaper Le Soleil, has reached a new milestone in her career with the release of her first novel, "Une folle lucide" (A Lucid Madwoman). Through the story of Soda, the author skillfully explores the complexities of mental health and social injustice in Senegal.
The book portrays Soda, nicknamed "the madwoman," an orphan dispossessed by her relatives who wanders the streets of Dakar. Alternating between moments of lucidity and descents into madness, the narrative depicts a daily life marked by hunger, humiliation, and loneliness, until an accident changes everything.
Far more than a simple life story, "A Lucid Madwoman" offers a profound reflection on mental health from an insider's perspective. The author explores universal themes such as greed, solidarity, faith, and human dignity. The novel highlights the "kind souls" who cross Soda's path, like Mother Soukèye and the psychiatrist Khalil Thiam, before a final trial sets things straight.
A graduate of CESTI, Arame Ndiaye uses her experience as a journalist specializing in social and cultural issues to give a voice to the voiceless. This book is presented as an extension of her daily work: observing the world closely to find the right words to describe it.

je pense pas qu'on puisse etre folle et lucide.
prenons des jumelles, et poussons un peu vers des siamoises , et encore un peu plus loin vers un etat ou 2 personnes tendent asymptotiquement vers un seul etre. physique.
En fait, je pense, que l'on peut habiter a plusieurs dans le meme corps.
