"I now better understand why my book was not broadcast on RTS under Diomaye's regime, after the hard struggles we waged to try to change this country thanks to the courage and determination of our leader Ousmane Sonko. I didn't know that Sonko was such a nuisance," lamented Mour Sèye, writer and secretary general of Pastef/Khombole.
He then announced that the departure of the elder Alla Kane allowed him to be certain of the "unseemly" reactions of the RTS, following the publication of his 326-page book on the journey of Ousmane Sonko, his political leader from 2014 to 2024.
Mour Sèye wonders why the RTS management blocked his appearance to talk about the book on the Pastef leader.
According to him, his essay, published by L'Harmartan in June 2024 and which discusses the president of Pastef, can serve as a reference point for many researchers and future generations. He explained that this book recounts their hard-fought battle against Macky Sall's regime up to the triumph of their candidate, Bassirou Diomaye Faye.
"When I asked to appear on RTS, a well-known journalist friend with over 15 years of experience at RTS was working to get me an opportunity to promote my book on the show 'Kinkéliba'. This was around July 2024. He confirmed that the show's host agreed, even forwarding me messages to show he was doing everything he could to find me a platform on TV. Every time the journalist gave his approval, something would subsequently block my invitation. At first, he would tell me that the show's coordinator had changed, then he would find another excuse until October. Finally, he didn't know what to tell me anymore," Mour Sèye complained.
The writer continued: "When I spoke with the coordinator on the phone, we had a long discussion, but one day he asked me an intriguing question: 'When are you going to write about President Bassirou Diomaye Faye?' I didn't understand it at all, because I honestly thought there was no difference between talking about Sonko or the head of state. However, while my book certainly discusses the charismatic leader Ousmane Sonko, I wrote extensively about the former secretary general of the party, then the patriots' candidate chosen by Sonko, and the winner of the presidential election, Bassirou Diomaye Faye."
Mour Sèye added that when he was to organize the book signing and presentation at the Hamady Aly Dieng hall of L'Harmattan in October 2024, he had sent him an invitation. He emphasized that his journalist friend had asked him to write a request for coverage to the RTS authorities.
"But to my great surprise," he said, "I received no response." Mour also noted that his journalist friend returned to tell him that he had taken every possible step, but that he didn't understand what the problem was.
"Regarding the show and the request for coverage, my friend told me quite frankly: 'Mour, I don't know where the problem lies, because it's not you personally who's the issue, because they don't really know you. Isn't it the book about Sonko?' He was really sorry," he confided.
Mour asks: "Is there anything wrong with writing about Sonko, when he was the standard-bearer of the patriotic revolution? Why did people try to differentiate between writing about the Pastef leader and the candidate he chose? I thought we would witness a real break. But now, I am saddened."

Focus 2029
Short tem peanuts versus long term richess.
