Podor: Le festival les blues du fleuve s'ouvre sur les notes de la préservation de la diversité culturelle
The Les Blues du Fleuve festival kicked off for its 17th edition this Friday, December 5, 2025 in Podor, and continues until December 7, initiated by the legend Baaba Maal.
The program includes concerts, conferences, panels, and workshops dedicated to the culture of the Senegal River, showcasing Senegalese artists and those from the sub-region. The opening took place in a warm atmosphere, bathed in the rays of the setting sun on the river, providing a pristine backdrop for an enthusiastic crowd who came in large numbers to participate in this wonderful celebration of culture, a true African reunion. Several prominent figures from the arts and culture sectors of Mali, Senegal, and Mauritania honored the official opening ceremony with their presence.
This took place in the presence of the lead vocalist of Dandé Léniol elhad Beydi Baaba Maal and the entire artistic community of the department of Podor.
Launched by the internationally renowned Senegalese artist, Baaba Maal, the Blues du Fleuve festival aims to strengthen ties between the peoples living along the Senegal River and to maintain integration in West Africa. The Blues du Fleuve symbolizes this solidarity. The Blues du Fleuve festival has always dedicated its editions to the diverse expressions of peoples whose culture is strongly influenced by water.
This culture is represented primarily through the performing arts: music, traditional dance, crafts... This popular heritage and development concerns are also represented through thematic exhibitions and conferences.
This event is placed under the banner of peace and social harmony for African living together in unity and conviviality around the peoples united by the river in diversity.
One of the objectives is to contribute to strengthening the Senegalese state's Vision 2050. Many artists from the new generation will be performing concerts throughout the city, not to mention artists coming from Mali and Mauritania.

Mr Baba Maal il importe actuellement de mettre sur pied un socle sur lequel vous devez vous ateler en tant qu intellectuel (ancien de l'universite ) professionnel de la musique un espace culturel pour valoriser la diversite culturelle.
On conviendra a travers vos chansons que la diversite culturelle panorama du pluralisme que vous valorisez grandement doit etre un fer de lance [a nos gouvernants de construire en particulier en Mauritanie un régime pour le respect de ces valeurs lesquelles sont indissociables du dialogue, de l’ouverture, de l’interaction, de l’égalité,de la diversite culturelle entre les citoyens mais aussi et surtout de la conservation patrimoniale de ces acquishistoriques pour l’émancipation du peuple à travers une cohesion sociale exemplaire. Cet espace peut etre un institut ou une fondation ou un grand centre. Il est certain qu a travers vos grands succes a travers le monde vous aurez des partenaires qui repondront a la creation de cet espace. Vous avez le devoir et la morale de passer a cet acte.
