Festival du Sahel : Le désert de Lompoul vibre au rythme des sonorités des peuples du Sahel !
From November 7 to 9, 2025, northern Senegal will come alive with the Sahel Festival, which will be held at the Lompoul Desert Oasis in the Louga region. This unique event, one of Africa's largest cultural gatherings held in the heart of a desert, celebrates the richness and cultural diversity of the peoples of the Sahel. Part of an ambitious five-year project (FiS 2025-2029) focused on sustainable tourism and the creative and cultural industries, the festival aims to highlight the region's artistic and cultural heritage through a varied and engaging program.
For the 2025 edition, iconic figures of Senegalese music, such as Omar Pène, will share the stage with new-generation artists like Amadeus, as well as talents from the subregion. This eclectic program will feature concerts, artistic performances, forums, workshops, film screenings, and moments of exchange, highlighting the fundamental values of the Sahel: hospitality, dialogue, and sharing. In an interview with Seneweb, the festival's executive director, Abdoulaye Savaré, revealed the major innovations of this edition, including an expanded cultural offering and a particular focus on the authenticity of musical traditions.
