Justice climatique : l’Afrique élève la voix à l’ONU

Speaking at the United Nations, Bassirou Diomaye Faye placed the climate emergency at the heart of a global debate on the future of multilateralism. He denounced the climate injustice plaguing the continent and called for a collective awakening to transform promises into tangible action.

The Senegalese diplomat insisted that the ecological transition must go hand in hand with Africa's industrial and economic development. Financing mechanisms, technology transfers, and structural reforms must become concrete instruments of solidarity and justice. The challenge is to make climate vulnerability a lever for sustainable growth and autonomy for the continent.

Bassirou Diomaye Faye stressed that the international system must evolve to fully integrate African needs and voices. Global cooperation can no longer be limited to symbolic commitments; it must translate into concrete actions capable of supporting sustainable investment, climate adaptation, and innovation.

By affirming Africa's central place in climate and multilateral discussions, Senegal is sending an important message: environmental justice is inseparable from sovereignty, development and the dignity of current and future generations.
